Prototype information about the model
At the instigation of MITROPA, 9 modern 4-axle dining cars were built by the DR in Raw Gotha between 1960 and 1962.
The basis was the chassis of older passenger coaches (presumably Italian-designed cars that ended up with the DR as express train cars). The car bodies were completely new. The shape of the car bodies was reminiscent of the Reko cars of the time.
The first 5 cars of the WRg type (type number 2553) were equipped with swan-neck bogies, the last 4 cars with Görlitz-type bogies.
These dining cars were also used by the DR in cross-border traffic in transit trains or interzone trains. There have been sightings in West Berlin, in Hamburg Central Station and in the wider North German DB network.
