With the commuting of long-distance trains from 1996, the SBB acquired 60 control cars of the type IC Bt. The vehicle, which offers 62 seats, is conceptually based on the well-known Eurocity cars. The equipment also includes a wheelchair, stroller and bicycle compartment as well as a closed toilet system with bioreactor. The head shape and driver's cab largely correspond to the Re 460 locomotives, which achieves a homogeneous appearance.
