Prototype information

The first connections between Roma Termini and Northern Europe along the Brenner axis, the so-called "Alpen Express", date back to 1952, with direct sections to Germany, Denmark, Belgium or Holland. Over the years there have been numerous route changes with different compositions, including German, Italian, Danish and CIWL carriages. In 1981 the train lost its Danish section, from 1984 it was permanently restricted to Munich and operated only with FS material, to be replaced in 1987 by the Eurocity "Michelangelo" on the same route. The former CIWL dining cars of the type 1925T “Pistoiesi” have always had a permanent place in this train.

- New molds for the body, windows and chassis of the WR 1925T “Pistoiesi” restaurant car, a type of car never before produced by Rivarossi.
- Detailed reproduction of the new underbody equipment, roof, restored manifolds and side wall details.
- Consistently modified interior.
- Version with redesigned end caps and tubular signal box.
- M4p bogies.
- CIWL livery with emblem in the center of the body and red “high speed” stripe indicating the 180 km/h approval
- Close coupling kinematics according to NEM 362.
- Specific running signs with photo engraving are supplied in a bag.

UIC-X wagons
- 1968 wagons with MDfd bogies 1st or 2nd class.
- Slate grey paintwork with red "high speed" stripe indicating 180 km/h approval.
- New steps on the entrance doors.
- New disc brakes on the bogies.
- New numbering.
- Close coupling kinematics according to NEM 362.
