The Metropolitan Express Train (MET), often just called Metropolitan, was a German type of train. It existed from August 1999 to December 2004 and ran on the Cologne–Hamburg route. Metropolitan was also the name of the railway company Metropolitan Express Train GmbH, which exclusively operated the train type of the same name.
The two luxuriously equipped wagon trains built specifically for the MET train type in 1998/1999 were used after the end of Metropolitan operations in December 2004 used as regular ICE or IC trains. The two sets were parked when the timetable changed in December 2021 and were initially for sale at DB-Gewdzug. Since no buyer was found, they were transferred to Eberswalde for scrapping at the beginning of December 2023.
