As type Lx (Voiture-Lits de grand luxe) was the name given to a type of sleeping car purchased by the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits (CIWL) in 1929. The total of 90 cars purchased are considered to be the most luxurious sleeping cars ever purchased by the CIWL. In the years before the Second World War, they were used in the CIWL's luxury trains, which consisted exclusively of sleeping and dining cars, such as the Train Bleu and the Nord-Express. After the war, the cars were also used in individual sleeping car routes on normal night trains. Preserved examples are used in nostalgic trains such as the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.
