1989 – 1995, in addition to the EW IV cars currently in use, the SBB put another large-capacity car series into service for EuroCity traffic. These were based on the Bpm RIC and the EW IV delivered in 1980. The color scheme in two shades of gray with a light stripe in between was previously used for the TEE trains (RABe) that were converted into two-class EuroCity trains. The light stripe of the Eurofima paint scheme was retained. The 60 seats in first class and 78 in second class are arranged face-to-face throughout.
