The KISS (comfortable, innovative, high-speed S-Bahn train) is an electric double-decker multiple unit from the Swiss-based manufacturer Stadler Rail. The trainset is available in two to eight-car versions.
The largest operator is the SBB, where the trainsets known as RABe 511 are used in four- and six-car variants in regional and national transport. The Swiss BLS also has 39 KISS sets - but with the new crash-optimized vehicle head. In 2019, Deutsche Bahn AG bought 17 KISSs from the Austrian Westbahn and converted them for use in intercity traffic. The four-car IC2 trains run on the Dresden – Rostock and Vienna – Rostock routes. This year these will be increased to six cars. Other operators are the CFL, the Westfalenbahn, the ODEG and the MAV.
