Hobbytrain H28402 - Electric locomotive Re 4/4 IV (10102) SBB, ep.V
For the SBB's Railway 2000 project, BBC and SLM manufactured four prototypes of a four-axle electric locomotive made of light steel construction. The locomotives, known as Re 4/4 IV at the SBB, were intensively tested at the SBB from 1982 onwards. With the 160 km/h fast locomotives, not only was the new rectifier technology tested, but also new color schemes - so all four machines were given different paint jobs. It was only from 1986 that the Re 4/4 IV received a uniform color scheme in traffic red with the Bahn 2000 advertising. From 1994, the Südostbahn (SOB) took over the locomotives known as Re 446 and turned them into rolling advertising boards. With the introduction of the Stadler Flirt at the SOB in 2019, all Re 4/4 IV were sold to EDG.
