The RENFE Series 7900/279The Class 279 (ex 7900) locomotives were the first electric locomotives of the large family of Japanese locomotives ordered by RENFE. This series of 16 locomotives, acquired between 1967 and 1968, was designed to operate on lines with different voltages, which is why it had dual voltage equipment that allowed it to operate at 1500 and 3000 V indiscriminately, and was also versatile, being suitable for both freight and passenger transport.
