Novelty 2023: From the mid-1950s onwards, passenger train carriage series, which are referred to as conversion carriages, were created through the conversion of state railway compartment cars at the German Federal Railway. Second class cars, first and second class cars and second class cars with luggage compartments were built.
For many years they were indispensable in local transport on main and branch lines. The last examples were only retired in the mid-1980s, but they are still in use today on museum railways or as construction vehicles.
