Vossloh Locomotives is one of the European market leaders in the construction of diesel locomotives. With their economy, flexibility and environmental friendliness, the rail vehicles continue to set new standards for mainline and shunting locomotives.
The G 1000 BB can be used for heavy shunting and light mainline service. It is approved in Germany, Italy, Luxembourg (CFL series 1100) and France. At SBB Cargo they have the class designation Am 842. Some locomotives were rented in 2006 by what was then Railion Deutschland (now DB Cargo Deutschland) in order to test their suitability as a possible successor to the 290/294 class. They were given the series number 261, but these recorded numbers were not written on the vehicles.
